The problem with facing Islam and Isis

The problem with this one is that you are facing an ideology. It is harder to destroy than a normal enemy. In order to destroy it you must either do it via: propaganda, bring more ruthless than the enemy could ever hope to be, kill any who hold that belief as to strike terror in their hearts so they won't do so again. It's harder to fight an ideal than an enemy nation for you can't topple a government and replace it.

For example WW2 was quicker. Fascism was an ideal but it was specific to that nation. Italy, Germany, and Japan were thoroughly toppled and had regime replacements thus ending fascism there. Other fascists regimes like Romania or Spain either laid low out of fear from the Allies or were consumed from communism. Even as a fascist myself I acknowledge the Allies were a good enemy and defeat was delivered soundly. That was the end of fascism but the Soviet Union was a different story.

Stalin knew damn well that he could not be invaded. Russia is practically impossible to do so. However he also acknowledged he could only expand so much. He had half of Europe but knew that while he could not be invade he himself was also limited in that he in return could only invade so much. So instead the clever bastard had an idea. He would invade through ideals.

He spread the propaganda of communism around the world, calling for all nations to have a revolution and put in place a socialist government. That government would then be controlled by KGB agents but that was the plan. Since he couldn't wage a conventional war he would do so via ideals. That's why the cold war was so damn long. It was a battle of ideals. You couldn't invade Moscow and now people were under this illusion this was a great thing. It took half a century before it finally collapsed and that's because its own people rose up.

And that's how we'll win this war. The UAE, Egypt, and others are starting to turn away from radical Islam and are improving. There has to be a conscious reform among Muslims that what they are doing is wrong. Only when Islam is reformed and the people of these countries rise up, and I don't mean an Arab spring where one dictator is replaced by another, but a real revolution. Only then will we see victory. We are starting to see it now. As much as Muslims don't like it and I apologize to any in the crowd, Isis shows the darkside of their religion. Isis is the Islamic version of dark ages crusaders. The same barbarity of a midevil warlord.

People say Isis is not Islam and some people say Isis is Islam. I say it is both. All religions can be used for good and bad. Christianity already had its days with the crusades, inquisition, and Hitler. The Christians have already seen the darker aspects of their religion and have since reformed it. Sure some extremists exist today like the IRA, and the Saint Lord's army but compared to the amount of Muslim extremists today that is nothing.

It is a fact no one wants to admit, especially those who grew up with it. I even understand the view point of some of these Muslims who violently defend their religion here when I point it out. Those who grew up with faith hold it close to their heart and will rabidly defend it. To them it is impossible that someone could take something that they love and grew up with and use it for evil so instead they stick their heads in the sand and use the "no true Scotsman" fallacy. And that's part of the problem. We've been to gentle. We've been worried about being called Islamophobes and offending others. Instead we have phrases like" it's the west's fault", "imperialism", or even "da Zionists" in some circles.

We have been to afraid to say that while not all Muslims are evil and are terrorists perhaps the problem does lie in Islam. Like not how all Germans were Nazis but it was the Germans who were gassing Jews and other undesirables. Like with Christianity the Muslims have to review their religion and reform it to a better standard. Only when they turn away from fundamentalism and embrace the fact that the Koran will not suddenly bring them back to and Arabic golden age like that one fellow I had a conversation with do I believe they can achieve peace. Like the West they have to embrace ideals like secularism and separation of Church and state while still maintaining a very moderate form of their religion like modern days Jews and Christians. Then we may have peace.

I am optimistic about the future however. In Saudi Arabia, perhaps one of the most well known Sharia countries hundreds dumped the Koran in the sewer as a form of protest. An act publishable by death. Isis has ironically done the opposite of what it set out to do and has united several Islamic countries including fucking Iran of all places against them. With all of these ethnic groups united in fighting against Isis I can see reform in the future. There is also the fact that Isis itself is a rude awakening. While many claim that Islam is a religion of peace I say that nothing can truly claim it is peaceful. It goes against human nature. Isis is a rude wake up call of what happens when one takes a holy book written in the dark ages literally, word for word. ~ C
